The M79 grenade launcher is the US Armys first standard breach louded grenade launcher. It fires the 40x46mm grenade from a tube launcher. It can fire the 40mm grenade at a range of 400 meters or 437 yards. The M79 was designed to increase the effectiveness of a US soldier in battle.
